Q4 ALL-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM

The Q4 all-wheel drive system guarantees premium driving comfort and superb performance on all road surfaces. The front-wheel drive is powered by a 1.3-litre MultiAir turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 132KW coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle is powered by an electric motor capable of 90 kW max peak power.

PERFECT WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION

Thanks to the optimal weight balance between the two axles, the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4 provides an unparalleled level of driving pleasure. The Tonale versions equipped with front-wheel drive use the excellent balance of masses to optimise torque delivery on the ground and handling on corners; this system is further emphasised in the Q4 all-wheel-drive version by the torque available on the ground for each axle.

DNA

The DNA functionalities have been redesigned to enhance the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4’s efficiency and performance. Now, with the drive selector, you can manage the Q4 traction and the electronic controls, coordinate the action of the engine and the transmission, and adjust the touch sensitivity of the commands.

The Dynamic mode uses both the electric motor and the internal combustion engine to deliver sporty driving performances.

The Natural mode optimises power and minimises fuel consumption, with the combined work of the internal combustion engine and electric motor.

The Advance Efficiency mode is the electric-only driving mode, ideal for traveling in city centres where traffic and emission restrictions apply.

The ESC OFF mode combines the full mechanical control of the vehicle with the astonishing performance of the DYNAMIC mode. 

ALFA™ LINK

The Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4 features a completely independent McPherson suspension scheme with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) dampers, offering the perfect combination between handling and comfort. In addition, the rear axle is equipped with a unique three-link geometry to ensure a fast cornering response.

E-COASTING DESCENT CONTROL

The e-Coasting Descent Control intervenes in place of the exhaust brake when the throttle is released, making it possible to recover energy when slowing down, even when the brake pedal is released. This feature has two modes which depend on the selected driving mode: Normal when the DNA drive selector is set on the Advanced Efficiency or Natural mode; Aggressive when the Dynamic mode or ESC-OFF are activated, reducing the speed faster than normal regenerative braking and generating more electricity to be conveyed to the battery pack.

DIRECT AND RESPONSIVE STEERING

Natural, instinctive, and precise, the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4 leads the C-SUV category with the most direct steering ratio, 14.8. Combined with advanced front-wheel suspension systems and dynamic torque vectoring, it redefines how an SUV should feel on the road.

REGENERATIVE BRAKING SYSTEM

On the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4, the regenerative braking system offers advantages in all driving modes, in terms of performance and sportiness. During passive driving phases (such as deceleration or light braking), the system recovers the maximum level of energy to help recharge the vehicle's battery. Furthermore, the system switches to Natural mode when the battery reaches the minimum level of charge regardless of the selected mode.

LEVEL 2 AUTONOMOUS DRIVING

The vehicle has achieved Level 2 Autonomous driving thanks to a front-mounted camera to monitor the vehicle’s surroundings, laterally and longitudinally in combination with three other systems: Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, and Traffic Jam Assist. These three systems interact to maintain the correct position on the road with minimal driver intervention.

These features assist in keeping the vehicle at the correct speed, in the centre of its lane, greatly reducing the possibility of collisions, while constantly checking the vehicle’s surroundings in congested traffic where accidents often occur. 

ACTIVE BLIND SPOT ASSIST

Blind Spot Detection monitors the driver's blind spots while driving, visually warning them on the side mirrors when another vehicle is in their blind spot. Plus, the system offers a corrective steering manoeuvre to avoid a collision with vehicles in the hidden blind spot.​

Rear Path Detection is activated while the Tonale Plug-in Hybrid Q4 is moving in reverse: it helps when backing out of parking spaces and other reduced visibility situations. It also alerts the driver when something approaches the vehicle laterally

360° VIEW CAMERA

​The 360° View Camera offers an all-round view of the car’s surroundings on the 10.25” digital touchscreen with a dynamic grid.

This system features four high-definition cameras positioned on the front grille, rear-view mirrors, and tailgate for easier parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.

LANE KEEP ASSIST

Lane Keep Assist alerts the driver if the vehicle is unintentionally leaving its lane and automatically intervenes to correct its path and direct it back into its lane.

TSR & INTELLIGENT SPEED CONTROL

The Traffic Sign Recognition system uses an onboard camera to identify traffic signs: it reports them on the display and alerts the driver of the current speed limit.​

The Intelligent Speed Control suggests reducing the speed to the detected limit. If the driver accepts, the cruise control settings are automatically adjusted.​

EMERGENCY BRAKING

Using the front mounted camera to visually and audibly warn the driver of a stopped vehicle, pedestrians, or cyclists ahead. If the driver is unable to stop in time, the system autonomously brakes the vehicle to avoid or mitigate a collision. 

DRIVER BEHAVIOUR WARNING

During long drives sometimes it is necessary to take a break. The program monitors the movements of the vehicle and the drowsiness of the driver and warns through alert signals and the symbol of a coffee cup on the TFT display and encourages them to pullover and rest.

REAR SEAT REMINDER ALERT

The Rear Seat Reminder Alert system is designed to detect the presence of an object in the rear seat.​

This system activates at the beginning of each drive if the driver opens a rear door. At the end of the drive, when the vehicle is turned off, the device alerts and reminds the driver to check the rear cabin before leaving.​
